Matt Chun is a studio artist and freelance writer, working between Sydney, Taipei and Bermagui (a small fishing village on Yuin country, East Coast Australia). Through drawing, painting and installation work, Matt documents landscape and portrait subjects. As a writer, Matt examines Australian visual culture and national identity, most recently for Meanjin Quarterly.

Matt’s permanent open studio on Bermagui’s main thoroughfare offers a direct public engagement with his practice. From this space, Matt oversees a creative co-working and exhibition space, and operates a popular (and occasionally controversial) espresso bar.

Matt has recently returned from a 2-month tenure as artist-in-residence at Bamboo Curtain Studio in Tapei, as an Australia Council grant recipient.
